Innovation & research
The concept of Metamorphism, developed by Kinetura, is supported by patents (international PCT application) and registered community designs.
This concept of functional transformation is being implemented in lighting, furniture, stagery and architecture.
Therefore Research & Development and production & realization are empowered by the following companies and institutes:
Film and Music
From the start film and music are innately connected to the concept of Metamorphism and its realization.
For he first film about a transforming building, called “the Kinetower”, the music was written by Wim Mertens
www.wimmertens.be, the Belgian composer of the music for Greenaway’s film ‘the belly of an architect’. The music for the Kinetower was called ‘the grasp of letting go’.
For Kinetura’s next film, called “the Kinestore”, the music was composed by the Belgian musician Tuur Florizoone
www.tuurflorizoone.be, who also wrote the music for the movie ‘Aanrijding in Moscou’.

light
From being almost literally absent, the lamps transform in a silent and nearly imperceptible way, into a contrasting shape with a completely different functionality and light expression. The light caresses the material brought under tension through deformation.
A whole new world of possibilities opens, where light, both natural and artificial, becomes innately architectural.

Santiago
IF product design award 2011 for SANTIAGO
+ Reddot Design Award 2011
The Santiago lighting fixture can be seamlessly integrated into wall and ceiling: architecture in its purest form, without the distraction of lighting fixtures. When little light is required, a minimal graphic line glows and changes the focus. On a next level the lamp slowly bends inwards and abundant light sensually caresses wall or ceiling. The coloured interior of the fixture heightens the experience. Light and architecture become one.
System patented (international PCT application)+ Registered Design
Tokyo
The Tokyo wall-integrated lamp serves as an orientation light with a double layer. It is transformable from being just a graphic coloured glowing line into a more abundant light experience. When more light is wanted the Tokyo lamp slowly bends backwards. Light as a rising sun.
System patented (international PCT application)+ Registered design
New York
The New York lamp slowly changes from a closed architectural beam shape into an open and sensual form. Oppositions become innate properties of one object: conceal versus reveal, male versus female, rational versus emotional...
The New York lamp is a free-standing lamp that can change the atmosphere by physically transforming its shape and thus its light-effect.
System patented (international PCT application)+ Registered design
Shanghai
The Shanghai lamp slowly metamorphoses from a cylindrical shape into a Chinese lantern and back.
This transformation can interact with passers-by.
Depending on the need, light can be emitted upwards and downwards or spread around.
The shape and light patterns continuously change the surrounding space in a subtle, nearly imperceptible way.
The shanghai lamp is a large pendant lamp, but also exists in a free-standing version.
System patented (international PCT application)+ Registered design

KINETOWER
The Kinetura concept of transformation was for the first time applied to a building design of a tower, called the Kinetower.
The building can respond to its environment and adapt to the amount of light and sun that is wanted or needed.
Music for this film was composed by Wim Mertens (the grasp of letting go, © Usura).
The film was first showed to the public in Verona in September 2008.
