Innovation & research
The concept of Metamorphism, developed by Kinetura, is supported by patents (international PCT application) and registered community designs.
This concept of functional transformation is being implemented in lighting, furniture, stagery and architecture.
Therefore Research & Development and production & realization are empowered by the following companies and institutes:
Film and Music
From the start film and music are innately connected to the concept of Metamorphism and its realization.
For he first film about a transforming building, called “the Kinetower”, the music was written by Wim Mertens
www.wimmertens.be, the Belgian composer of the music for Greenaway’s film ‘the belly of an architect’. The music for the Kinetower was called ‘the grasp of letting go’.
For Kinetura’s next film, called “the Kinestore”, the music was composed by the Belgian musician Tuur Florizoone
www.tuurflorizoone.be, who also wrote the music for the movie ‘Aanrijding in Moscou’.

light
From being almost literally absent, the lamps transform in a silent and nearly imperceptible way, into a contrasting shape with a completely different functionality and light expression. The light caresses the material brought under tension through deformation.
A whole new world of possibilities opens, where light, both natural and artificial, becomes innately architectural.
furniture
Transformation of shape resulting in the change of functionality.
This adds an extra dimension.
architecture
Metamorphic architecture
responsive and sustainable
where 'Form follows Function' in a new way.
installations
Where physical transformation and vizualisation bring people together.
Santiago
Light and architecture seem to dissolve into each other.
A minimal graphic light line gradually transforms into an open light fixture that spreads a sensual light.
This Santiago lighting fixture can be integrated into wall and ceiling.
System patented (international PCT application)
Registered Design
Dimensions 482 X 178 X 100 mm
Colour textured white
Manufacturer TAL LIGHTING (www.tal.be)
soon available from July 2010
Tokio
Light and architecture seem to dissolve into each other.
The lamp gradually transforms from closed to open. It is almost absent in its closed position and is spreading a sensual light when open.
As a rising sun.
This Tokio lighting fixture can be integrated into walls as a directive light or an atmosphere maker.
System patented (international PCT application)
Registered design
Dimensions diameter 150mm
Colour exterior: textured white
LED: cool white, warm white, amber, red, green, blue
Manufacturer TAL LIGHTING (www.tal.be)
Soon available from July 2010
New York
The New York lamp slowly transforms from a closed shape to an open and sensual form.
Oppositions become innate properties of one object:
Closed versus open,
rigid versus flexible,
hide versus reveal,
male versus female,
objectivity versus emotion...
The New York lamp is a free-standing table lamp that can transform the atmosphere by physically transforming its shape and light effect.
System patented (international PCT application)
Registered design
Dimensions in closed form: height 940mm, base 200 x 200mm
Colours: textured red, white, black
Soon available (from August 2010)
Shanghai
The cylindric shape of the lamp slowly transforms to an open form.
The vertical light becomes radial.
The lamp ‘Shanghai' obviously refers to the Chinese lantern, but also symbolizes the transformation China is undergoing.
The lamp can serve in lobbies, entrance halls, restaurants,... as an eye-catcher. In response to the public not only the shape of the lamp changes but also its appearance and light effect.
The Shanghai lamp has a pendant and a freestanding version.
System patented (international PCT application)
Registered design
Colours:
- black outside-gold inside
- black outside-white inside
Manufacturer TAL LIGHTING (www.tal.be)
Soon available from September 2010
KINETOWER
The Kinetura concept of transformation was for the first time applied to a building design of a tower, called the Kinetower.
The building can respond to its environment and adapt to the amount of light and sun that is wanted or needed.
Music for this film was composed by Wim Mertens (the grasp of letting go, © Usura).
The film was first showed to the public in Verona in September 2008.
KINESTORE
responsive architecture
music by Tuur Florizoone
WRITING TABLE
imagine furniture that can switch, with one simple movement, from one state into another.
From a bench to a table and vice versa.
This is multifunctionality in one and the same object.
